Review of Crocodile Dundee II (1988) by Dawdlingpoet — 28 Nov 2021
This sequel is the same as many other film sequels in terms of featuring a rather weak plot and relying on the same aspects of the first film to maintain the viewers interest and provide the comedy. I did think it was reasonably amusing and an easy watch to start with but the plot became really quite weak certainly mid way through, although I can't say it was exactly unwatchable but I certainly felt quite distracted and some scenes made me cringe.
I wasn't entirely comfortable with the Australian stereotypes present, especially the depiction of the aborigines, which seemed particularly un-PC by modern day standards. Still, there were some amusing moments, slapstick type moments with the titular character in New York, accidentally becoming involved in other peoples situations, to put it one way.
There is some reasonable choreography present and its a reasonably alright watch for the first half but the 2nd half lets it down. Overall, I'm not greatly impressed but I suppose it could be worse. I wouldn't especially recommend it as such, no.
