Review of Critters (1986) by Jarrett M — 24 Oct 2011
A quirky and offbeat horror movie with an original idea and it is actually decently written and performed. The movie moves along a a very brisk pace, although it does have a slightly slow start. The critters themselves have a fair amount of personality and are well realized in an era of practical visual effects.
The cast does a decent job, easily comparable to other films of the genre. The film also has a decent amount of humour to it, but never really reaches a laugh out loud level. Somewhat reminiscent of Tremors or Gremlins, but has enough oringinality to make it unique and worth a watch if it sounds like it's your kind of movie.
Recommended for those who enjoy offbeat '80's horror films, and have the desire to see basketball sized man-eating hairballs with a bottomless appetite and a bad attitude turned loose on a small farm.
