Another great Tony Scott film! Crimson Tide really did deliver in pretty much every area! Great direction, great plot, great soundtrack, and most importantly: Great acting! Hackman and Washington were explosive together! Much like 'The Hunt for Red October' this submarine epic tends to mix it up a little bit more by throwing in some real nerve splitting scenes of underwater chaos filled with hull floods, fires, torpedoes, near frame crushing dives into the abyss, and not to mention a full scale mutiny! The movie is very tense on some parts and in my opinion was a very interesting watch from the very opening scene.

Captain Ramsey (Gene Hackman) is a hardass, old school captain that tends to be a little gung-ho and trigger happy when it comes to the launching of nuclear missiles. His new XO (Washington) tends to be the sound voice of the USS Alabama as he prides himself on playing by the books.

Basically Hackman and Washington's rivalry is what truly makes this movie worth watching. Other cast members include a somewhat slimmer James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano) as well as a strikingly younger Viggo Mortensen.

Ryan Phillipe was even in there somewhere (saw his name in the credits). So if your in the mood to take a dive, check out Crimson Tide. *Funny seeing Denzel and Gandolfini together, as they are also in 'The Taking of Pelham 123' together, which was also directed by Tony Scott* A little pinch of trivia there for ya ;) 4-stars.
