Review of Crimson Tide (1995) by Jay L — 20 Feb 2013
"In The Face Of The Ultimate Nuclear Showdown, One Man Has Absolute Power. And One Man Will Do Anything To Stop Him..".
"DANGER RUNS DEEP...".
Crimson Tide is packed with an enormous amount of high tension, and that rages and radiates with purely absolute masculinity. Definately one of the best of the Director Tony Scott (Enemy Of The State, Top Gun, Man On Fire, Domino) and Produced Jerry Bruckheimer collaborations. I have yet to come across a bad submarine movie, these movies provide an extra level of suspense and thrills. Tony Scott's trademark visual and fast paced style is not as prevalent in Crimson Tide as in some of his other movies. He buckled down and made an excellent, realistic, and gripping film.
Gene Hackman is brilliant as the captain of the Uss Alabama, and Denzel Washington gives a great performance as the captain's executive officer. Crimson Tide is an excellent movie complete with a great story, brilliant acting, high powered tension, and non stop action. It also features appearances by James Gandolfoni, Viggo Mortensen, and Steve Zahn.
