Review of Crimson Peak (2015) by David M — 14 May 2016
Atmospheric, gorgeously gothic & refreshingly original. It's very rare to find horrors these days focused more on style & intriguing storytelling rather than scares & gruesome body counts.
It also takes special talent to make a movie with creepy ghosts to be primarily focused on its human characters/story & not be supernaturally driven. Starts off as a romantic drama period-piece that ends in a twisted brutal bloodbath.
Was so much fun. Proof that horrors can contain just as much substance as any other respectable genre. Also just wanna say this was cast perfectly.
