Review of Crimson Peak (2015) by Tara H — 06 Feb 2016

This one grew on me. I'm a fan of older horror movies like the Edgar Allen Poe style movies and this (other than some rather bad overly red cgi work-that crimson theme was over played) resembled that style.

I'm not in my twenties anymore and I don't need constant fast paced action to keep me interested, and constant frights are too gimmicky. Del Toro stays true to form delivering some of the most graphic gore at the end that is really hard to watch.

Yet it's important action needed to wrap the story up, so it has to be there. Visually it's hard to take though. What's with his obsession with facial stabbing??? Yarg. Well anyway, I liked it.

The setting was gorgeous. I plan to buy it when it comes out.
