Review of Crimson Peak (2015) by Oliver-Todd H — 15 Feb 2016
What a lavish masterpiece of cinematic art. It's a beautifully set period piece, a love story, a ghost story that is a complete & utter (wait for it)... pretentious bore. What a waste of some great actors, not to mention all that red paint! Couldn't wait for it to end.
Neither scary, nor intriguing, it simply made me cold watching the characters run barefoot through an open-air mansion & the wintery (albeit red) landscape. I can appreciate cinematic beauty & lavish story telling, but this was, as another reviewer put it, "silly & bloated".
