Crimson Peak possesses all the hallmark qualities of a good del Toro film, enhanced by his obvious passion for the scary and the supernatural. The expert colour grading and the unique, clever aesthetic of the settings the events take place in create an effective sense of tension and atmosphere.
Some CGI elements seem sub-par though sometimes, possibly due to the actual design of the subject matter being animated, but the effects are nevertheless felt and terrifying. Just great.
