Review of Criminal (2004) by Peter C — 23 Mar 2011
John C. Reilly stars as Richard Gaddis, an L.A. swindler who recruits a young partner (Diego Luna) for a sting operation, one that has Richard using antique currency to con a tycoon (Peter Mullan) out of $500,000.
He also has his sister (lovely Maggie Gyllenhall) to pose as a whore in order to do it. If it sounds familiar that's because it sort of is, since Criminal is an American remake of Nine Queens, an Argentinian film from Fabian Bielinsky.
Nine Queens is still vastly superior to this tepid remake from director Gregory Jacobs.
