Review of Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989) by Doug F — 24 Jun 2007
Woody Allen's finest film. Tackles the broadest questions of human existence with breathtaking simplicity. With the darker of the twin plots, Allen becomes a sort of American Ingmar Bergman as he sends Judah on an expedition into his own distant past.
By the time the proffessor's final words spoke out over the wedding ceremony I knew that I had witnessed something truly incredible. Seldom have I seen the pain and beauty of the human condition portrayed through a film so gracefully and openly.
