Review of Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989) by John E — 11 Oct 2007
Woody's masterpiece. A vision worthy of Dostoevsky. Landau is brilliant as the man who gradually becomes comfortable with having had his troublesome mistress murdered to prevent her from ruining his life.
Alan Alda provides some humour as a fatuous TV producer. Allen's character does the right thing, and finishes last. Audaciously conceived and put over with great conviction. Woody's best non-comedy is one for the ages.
