Review of Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989) by Imus I — 20 Jul 2010
My favourite Woody Allen. No wonder why the critics compare his ability to that of Chekhov's; he is so so good at creating thoughtful characters and masterly controlling their intricate interactions.
It's funny, sad, profound, scary, depressing, entertaining etc, everything you want from an Allen movie. THe last 3 minutes of the movie is one of my all time favourite moments: a blind man dancing with his daughter during her wedding, with the voiceover of the completely crazy/weird Jewish professor, talking about the nature of life and the happiness.
A moment when all the weird humour and quirky jokes of Allen suddenly turns into the sheer profoundness. A beautiful scene to be remembered.
