Review of Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989) by Chris J — 25 Aug 2010
Shocking, powerful Woody Allen classic ingeniously incorporates its' richly dark comic themes within a dead serious drama about murder and getting away with it. Sin is rewarded and virtue is punished in this fascinating, if admittedly depressing document on the struggle for morality in the modern world.
Also Woody's documentary on Alda's pompous filmmaker is hilarious ("You'd think no one had ever been unfavorably compared to Mussolini before").
