Review of Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989) by Ryan N — 20 Jun 2012
This movie is heartbreaking. Truly heartbreaking. Both storylines are intriguing, heartbreaking and great pieces of work. The whole cast (Allen, Alda, Farrow, Landau, Huston and Waterston) give great performances and both storylines feel like two separate movies that converge very well.
And I have to give Allen credit for making a movie that doesn't feel like a woody allen movie (the Landau storyline doesn't feel very Allenesque, while Allen's own storyline feels like one).
A heartbreaking and thought-provoking film, and not to mention very funny as well. In my opinion, Woody Allen's magnum opus. 10/10 or 5/5.
