Review of Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989) by Joanne M — 01 Jun 2008
This movie explores the worst thing that can happen to a person: A man commits a grave sin for which he believes God will punish him, and rightly so, in his mind. But the deed is done and -- poof! -- nothing happens.
There is no justice. God doesn't strike him dead. To me, this movie isn't about "getting away with it" or "bad guys finish first," it's a horror story about what happens when the rules you thought you were living by don't apply anymore.
