Review of Cria! (1976) by Alexander R — 08 Jan 2008
A drama with black doses of comedy. A girl is left distraught and disturbed after her parents both die and she is forced to live with her aunt. I'm reminded somewhat of Harold And Maud with the humor. It was both touching and entertaining.
The film also means to serve as a political allegory, interestingly enough (the spanish civil war and death of Franco to be specific).
Still, upon first watch, it seemed to end prematurely. Nothing was resolved and yet the mood just got happy all of a sudden. This may very well be a flawed perception on my part though. The movie was quite enjoyable aside from the one stated quarrel of mine.
I'll glady watch it again and revise this review.
