Review of Creepshow 3 (2006) by Robert H — 14 Oct 2011
Was quite surprised with this anthology outing. Not quite the same as the previous two but still manages to entertain. There aren't many scary moments and the use of CG is a bit over the top at times but making each of the 5 stories relate to each other and intermingle and intertwine in sometimes subtle ways and other times quite obvious, gives this one a step up.
Sure not having Stephen King or Romero involved is disapointing but the Directors managed to mix simple FX and a somewhat clever story along with an unknown cast to create an entertaining journey through this Twilight Zone/Outer Limits type film.
The opening credit artwork that's used in both the end of the film and the cover art is very nice and the opening animated sequence was quite unexpected.
The stories mix aspects of learning lessons with classic monsters and even the dangers of modern trinkets. Be careful with your remotes, radios, medicine, internet hookers and such cause they may turn around and bite you... literally.
I enjoyed how the film had all sorts of horror standards. Vampires, demons, ghosts, possession, serial killers, mad scientists and crazy homeless people are all touched on in part or in great depth and the variety kept the film from becoming stale.
