Review of Creepshow 2 (1987) by Gus S — 20 May 2008
What I don't understand about these Creepshow movies is how each one falls short of what could be a very good horror film. When Spielberg and Lucas work together the result is one of the greatest films ever made (Raiders of the Lost Ark) but when two masters of horror, George A.
Romero and Stephen King, combine with gore-master Tom Savini, the result is nothing more than a lukewarm horror picture, one with plenty of possibilities that never really take off. The stories are predictable and have been seen before ("The Raft" is just The Blob on water and "The Hitchhiker" is too similar to a Twilight Zone episode of the same name).
Although I liked the wrap-around animation segments, they needed more; perhaps an entirely animated Creepshow movie is in order.
