Review of Creepshow (1982) by Blais E — 06 Feb 2011
An outstanding collection of Stephen King stories brought to life as a virtual comic book, from the combined talents of director George Romero, & Make-up wiz Tom Savini, complete with clever dialogue, superb Special Effects, and some knock-out visuals, as well as featuring some awesome performances of a calibre very rarely-seen in horror films, especially those of Leslie Nielsen, Carrie Nye, Fritz Weaver, Viveca Lindfors, E G Marshall, Adrienne Barbeau, & Hal Holbrook, with Stephen King also effective in his cinematic debut, playing an ignorant rube who discovers a strange meteor in his backyard.
I advise any insectiphobe to steer clear of the final installment, where Marshall is besieged by endless legions of Cockroaches large and small. With two sequels; the first one, whilch pales badly in comparison to the original, is watchable---however, stay away from the horrendous direct-to-video anal-wart "Creepshow 3"!!
