Review of Creepshow (1982) by Lois B — 22 Nov 2007
I wasnt expecting anything special with Creepshow, but I gladly enjoyed this unique movie. Where Grindhouse made fun or 70's trash cinema, Creepshow pokes fun at 50's style horror stories. 2 greats of the horror genre (King and Romero) make a great pair for the movies.
Its obvious they aimed for over-the-top, and they succeded. Although it is very cheesy at times, it still remains scary, and contains some great jump moments. The movie is just 5 simple stories that have nothing to do with each other.
Stephen King really did nothing special here. Romero never did anything amazing with the direction, but theres nothing wrong with it. And Tom Savini, master of gore, hit it hard on his excentric make-up effects.
Overall a great movie for anyone who doesnt take things so seriously.
