Review of Creep (2014) by James R — 14 Feb 2018
Just like the title says here this movie is pretty damn creepy. I wouldn't say it's too "scary," but it's extremely disturbing at times and it's very well acted by the leads. The movie follows a videographer named Aaron (Patrick Brice) who answers an ad on Craiglist asking for a videographer for the day by a mysterious man living up in a mountainous region.
There he meets Josef (Mark Duplass) who has Aaron film him for the day telling him that he's dying and would like to film a video to his unborn son. Pretty soon Aaron begins to realize that Josef is definitely hiding something sinister.
... So yeah the movie is only about an hour and fifteen minutes and follows in the style of "found footage." It's really well done though and not super cheesy like a lot of found footage films can be like.
The reason why the film works is mainly because Duplass really gets into the role. He comes off a bit too mysterious in the beginning if that makes sense which made me never trust the guy leading the eventual twist and turns of the story to never really shock me.
There's some definite creepy moments in this one that are disturbing, but add a kind of edge of your seat feeling to the movie especially near the end. Overall, solid horror thriller film that I enjoyed.
Give it a look!
