Review of Creed II (2018) by Yash B — 09 Dec 2018
"Creed II" does an outstanding job following the "Rocky" formula. If this saga that has now spanned decades ended with this movie, I would be more than fine with it. I feel it closes all loose ends in both emotional and spectacular fashion.
The movie is fairly predictable as it plays out exactly how you'd expect, but I am glad it did. I think this movie made more of an effort than any movie in this franchise to do a few things differently.
What I admired most about this movie is that it actually allowed us to see what is driving the antagonist in the movie and I was able to even empathize at times. However, at the end of the day, of course, you root for Michael B.
Jordan's likable and flawed character. I think his performance was great again in this movie and this time the fight scenes felt more personal and carried a lot of intensely emotional weight. As a whole, the movie is about as good as the first "Creed" was and among the best, the entire "Rocky" franchise has seen.
Fans of this series or the formula it does a great job following can't miss it.
