Review of Creed II (2018) by Jeremy S — 26 Nov 2018
Pros: ALL the acting is on point. Every actor in this had a really compelling moment. Special kudos to Dolph Lundgren and Florian Munteanu (Ivan and Viktor Drago, respectively) as well as writers Cheo Hodari Coker and Sylvester Stallone for truly surprising me with these characters arcs. It actually makes Rocky 4 a better movie. The final fight is one of the best in the overall franchise.
Con: It's pretty formulaic. You'll know what's going to happen WELL before it does (you probably already know the basic outline), however...
Overall: Creed II is predictable, but in the same way that Thanksgiving Dinner is predictable (funny that it came out over the holiday). You know what's going to be on the menu and you know you're going to enjoy it, but there are just enough pleasant surprises that it never gets boring. Solid edition; just wondering where they go from here. Also, now I want a spinoff called "Drago".
