Review of Creed (2015) by Justin L — 14 Apr 2016
The terrible casting in this movie epitomizes some of what is wrong with US culture today. The plot is okay, Sly is good, but the casting of Michael B Jordan in the movie as Apollo's son is just terrible.
The actor doesn't have it in him to pull off this role. Sure, he's buff. I give him a B+ for being in shape, a full letter grade down from where he should be for a blockbuster movie like this.
His neck looks weak, unlike that of any boxer I've ever seen. And his movement is off! He doesn't move like a boxer, and they have to constantly cut the camera to attempt, unsuccessfully, to hide this.
But worst of all, he lacks the cojones to convince the audience that he's a tough-as-nails world champion. The only time I can give him credit for shouting convincingly in the movie is in every scene.
..when his inner core is screaming "I'm a little wussy!" I wish we had actors like Carl Weathers who looked like and acted like....because they were real....MEN. Apparently they just can't be found nowadays.
