Review of Creed (2015) by Jorge A — 06 Apr 2016
A great send-off to a beloved character, and an okay introduction to a mediocre one. Rocky steals most if not all of the scenes we are given with him. The focus of the movie is on Creed's bastard 'Adonis', who lives up to only the bastard part of that moniker.
The movie missteps in the decision to not just create an original character and story. Instead we are given a very 1-dimensional character who pales in comparison to his larger-then-life father. He is basically just an angry spoiled brat who is bestowed with.
.. the right genetics to be a boxer, I guess... Unfortunately not with the heart and fortitude of Rocky, or with the brains and skill of Apollo. At least they surprised if not pleased us with the ending.
5 Stars given for Stallone and -2 for Jordan which brings us to a solid 3. They should bring back Drago to kill off Creed in the next installment, and just leave us with the much more entertaining fight of Rocky Vs Cancer.
They could call it Rocky:Round 2... of Chemo.
