Review of Creed (2015) by Jerome K — 01 Mar 2016
You really have to admire people who are committed to their craft, and you can tell director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan put in a lot of time to make this movie. There's a 3 minute continuous shot of a fight in the middle of the movie that supposedly took months to perfect.
I'm not sure if I've ever seen a full Rocky movie since most of the movies came out before I was born, but Stallone seems on point as the veteran Rocky. Stallone has been getting a lot of the acting accolades, but I'd say Jordan edged him out.
As far as the story goes, it's a familiar one, but it has a lot of heart. The only negative for me is that a large chunk of the film is just shots of boxing training. I know that can't be helped since it's about boxing; however, I will say that the film's boxing matches are a lot more entertaining than any of the real life boxing matches I've seen.
