Review of Creature from the Hillbilly Lagoon (2005) by Tyler H — 11 Mar 2009
Holy Moses! This movie was pretty awful, BUT I will say there seems to be a lot of heart put into the film, especially from Richard Griffin, whose directing abilities have gotten better lately (refer to Splatter Disco and Necroville), but in this early film, about toxic waste turning the bass into large men in creature masks that look both hilarious and awful, but nowhere near as hilarious and awful as the acting from random characters who go from horny teens to scientists to government officials.
Silly and contrived story that is muddled down by horrible effects and acting, BUT, director Griffin has a knack for comedic timing, as a lot of the comedy in this film is actually (gasp) funny! Overall, though, pretty lame film.
