Review of Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) by Terry W — 13 Dec 2011
The movie has not aged well and the pace seems a bit slow. The âscientificâ? side of the story is corny and slapped together and the acting quality is ridiculous. They reveal the monster and show it in its entirety way too soon.
I would have preferred it be more suspenseful and preserve the mystery by not showing the monster as much. What they did do well is made a monster that was just minding his own business. We see the ugly side of man trying to conquer nature instead of respectfully observing it.
I found myself hoping these ignorant and destructive scientists actually get clawed to death and leave the poor Amazonian species alone.
