Review of Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) by Scott P — 03 Sep 2007
I remember staying up late to watch this some Friday or Saturday night with my dad when I was about five years old. It has never ceased being my favorite horror movie since. This is by far the most overlooked Universal classic monster movie, with The Invisible Man trailing pretty far behind in second.
The score for this film is pure genius. That I wouldnt give to see this projected in an old movie house, soundtrack blaring and screams ear piercing, in red/blue 3-D with fuzzy edges around the creatures black and white scaly arm protruding from the screen.
The directing is remarkable, even moreso when you consider it was filmed in 1954. Watch this movie.
