Review of Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) by Quentin N — 02 Feb 2009
Wonderful 1950's sci-fi horror. Some say that this creature has lost it's fright factor. I say poppycock. This film is just as scary as it was in the fifties. People have just forgotten that scary is a lot more than just a bunch of shock gimmicks.
This film understands the power of eerie photography. Though it suffers from campy dialogue and acting, it is fully enjoyable and the creature is one of the most awesome Universal Monsters out there.
