Review of Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) by Tiffany A — 17 Feb 2009
A fun little B-movie romp from the folks at Universal. The blending of creationism and evolutionary theory is an interesting move at the film's beginning, and then the fun truly begins: the discovery of mysterious amphibian/human hybrid arm fossilized in a rock cliff along the banks of the Amazon.
I think the creature costume is actually rather impressive for 1954, and the underwater scenes are exquisitely shot and creepy. A true b-movie, sci-fi horror classic.
