Review of Creation (2009) by Ld P — 25 Sep 2009
Creation (2009) English naturalist Charles Darwin finds himself torn between his love for his deeply religious wife and his own theory that creation may be explained without God. however he does not want to share this with his wife and destroy his family and her faith.
This film is about his domestic life Down House, Bromley, where he and his wife Emma lived from 1842 until until his death. The movie doesn't allow them to fully debate their differences. Right wing christian conservatives who do not believe in Darwin will probably not attend in the first place.
Those who do believe in his science and writings him may be disappointed. It is clear Darwin did not fear what the public thought of his science but was fearful of what his wife thought. Eugenie Scott (reviewer) said that "I believe it to be a thoughtful, well-made film that will change many views of Darwin held by the public?for the good.
The acting is strong, the visuals are wonderful, and it treats with loving care the Victorian details of the furnishings at Down house and other sites (such as Malvern), and the local church".four stars highly recommended.
