Review of Creation (2009) by Richard F — 20 Feb 2010
"Creation, the true story of Charles Darwin" is a very narrowly focused story. Darwin worried that his idea of evolution would ruin him in "respectable" scientific circles, which made him very ill. While the loss of his daughter by all accounts was large in his life, this movie shows an overly imaginative portrayal of how large it was. While I realize this is meant to be a drama and not a documentary, the story could have included details to make it more complete and more accurate. For example, beetles, barnacles and birds should have been more than just mentioned. And the church asked for Darwin to be buried in WestmInster Abbey.
The acting, costumes, and photography are wonderful. The story itself could have been better told.
