Review of Creation (2009) by M W — 09 Apr 2010
This was well shot and acted but the story just isn't exciting at all. For such a huge issue, it was downplayed nearly to the point of triviality. I guess Darwin struggled with his feelings because his beliefs were at conflict with his wife's and with what was generally accepted at that time, and then there's this whole drama about his daughter's death which is just boring and felt like filler material.
It becomes interesting when you think he is going to confront this douchey priest who beat his kid, but then he doesn't, and again when his psychological needs for his daughter to still be alive are compared to his wife's believe that their daughter is "alive somewhere on a cloud.
" I get it, I do, I just found it kind of boring. This is a film that you ought to skip because I just don't think you'll get anything out of it, and yet I don't see any need to bash and tear away at every detail that I think is wrong with it, as I normally do with movies I don't like.
