Review of Crazy, Stupid, Love. (2011) by Maxandron — 17 Sep 2011
Let me start by saying that I was very disappointed with this so called "movie" which I saw in the theater after seeing the trailer and knowing that it futures some very talented actors - who should have known better than to star in such a movie.
It failed both as a movie and as a comedy, as a comedy it failed in the sense that... well... it just wasn't funny.
As a movie, I didn't relate to any of the characters and especially their relationships that include a 13 year old boy who's in love with a 17 year old teenager and his babysitter (a relationship his father actually encourages him to pursue at some point), the same babysitter who is in love with the 40 year old father of the boy.
On a totally different subject, the movie was also absurd, I can never imagine that a self-respecting guy (played very questionably by Ryan Gosling), who goes to bars with the purpose of sleeping with different women on a daily basis, would decide for no apparent reason to take a complete stranger and a person who creates the impression of a total screw-up under his wing.
The Emma-Ryan relationship starts only after a long background featuring a relationship of her and her boyfriend who she think is supposed to propose for no apparent reason.
