Not a perfect movie but a very very good and entertaining movie.

As a FOB immigrant who grew up in the SF bay-area, I can definitely see both sides of the conflicts.

The wedding scene was beautiful and the singing & rendition of Elvis's 'Can't Help Falling In Love' by Kina Grannis was awesome. The mandarin rendition of Cold Play's "Yellow" by Katherine Ho at the end was tearful and also great. I think I'll go and purchase both soundtracks.

The Mah-Jong scene was very well written & filmed along with the dialog interwoven. You don't have to know the game to understand all the underlying back-n-forth tugging and symbolisms involved. This is the scene that made me teared up, fully understanding the pain Rachu is going thru and the sacrifice she's willing to make for someone she loves. That was the essence.

Constance Wu played the character well - gentle, smart and found her inner strength at the end. She was beautiful. I never knew of Gemma Chan before, but she was also great as well elegantly and stunningly beautiful. Henry Golding, for a first timer, played the part very well. Awkwafina and Ken Jeong both provided some great comic relief - especially Awkwafina - she's a rising star for sure.

I never read the book nor knew of the movie until one day I just happened to see the trailer in a movie months ago.

I'm glad me & my family came out to see & support this event.
