Review of Crazy Rich Asians (2018) by Kris M — 18 Aug 2018
Had lowered expectations based on trailers and also had the assumption that reviews were inflated to be pc and not appear racist. The reality was that it was really fun, well-acted and well-directed movie. It's a popcorn movie which was refreshing. Just like there is much more to the African American experience than slavery and oppression, the Asian American experience.
Goes beyond the first generational attempt to assimilate/adapt/overcome adversity in mainstream American culture. And a lot of Asian women do not seek salvation nor need validation in the form of a white man. And many Asian women PREFER the company of fine looking, intelligent, well-mannered Asian men.
