Review of Crazy Rich Asians (2018) by Gerard N — 20 Aug 2018
Okay. So, a few years ago, there was a movie called Hardcore Henry which was an action flick shot on a Go Pro with clones , telepathic villains, first person shoot outs, car chases, kung fu fighting and giant explosions just because they're cool.
It was pure testosterone. someone who hates didn't care about that stuff will despise the movie as being a cliche fest, poorly made with bad choices and awkward production. Crazy Rich Asians is like that but pure estrogen.
You want that "haven't seen your college friend" moment? Beautiful and creative wedding and parties? Horrible in-laws as the villains but begrudgingly giving in. A lot of ridiculously good looking men shirtless? A woman being cheated on in an out of left field plot that didn't really have to bee in it, but she gives her what for? Beautiful dresses.
Jewellery galore. Almost every 90s romantic comedy trope. I didn't like it that much, but it obviously wasn't for me.
