Love it! melanie griffith was born to play this role. the absurdity of her plan to become a star against the backdrop of troubled race relations makes for a compelling story. all of the story's elements come together in fascinating unison to sing the praises of freedom.

it really is a wonderful film with great characters. the plot and tone is similar to "nurse betty," but better and more southern.
