Review of Crazy Heart (2009) by Corey N — 28 Sep 2011

This is a movie about a down and out alcoholic country singer by the name of Bad Blake. His career is on tough times and not much gets him by in life but the booze. By chance he meets a young reporter and falls for her.

Due to bad breaks and bad choices this man must change his way of life. This movie was really good. A drama that stars Jeff Bridges. He was excellent in the role of Bad Blake. Plus the film has a great supporting cast with Maggie Gyllenhal, Colin Farrell and Robert Duvall.

Now I am not much of a country music fan but I really enjoyed the original music for this film. Plus Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrell are actually singing in this film. They are not lip syncing. Overall I enjoyed this drama.

You actually care about the characters in this. A very strong story with interesting characters. It deserved the awards it was nominated for and won. Well worth a watch. And you don't have to like country music to enjoy this.
