What 'Crazy Heart', the sad musical-drama, offers are not just the highly deserving Oscar-nominated and Oscar-winning performances of Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jeff Bridges respectively, but also a very sumptuous and brilliantly recorded country music with some delicate vocals from Mr Bridges himself among others.
Every time those guitar strings are strummed and the drums, the piano keys, the base chords, and the vocals chime in, the spirit of the music lifts one up even as the desolate tale of a singer (a composite of real-life characters) weighs you down.
