Review of Crazy Heart (2009) by Alexander P — 25 May 2013

Simply fantastic, this film lets you into the troubled world of an aging country singer named Bad Blake (Jeff Bridges in a Academy Award winning Performance). Bad is a alcoholic who is still trying to find his voice.

Scott Cooper really knows how to get a performance out of his cast, I really was shocked in awe of Colin Farrell as Tommy Sweet, Bad's old student, who ended up becoming bigger than him. Colin Farrell should have gotten at least and Oscar nomination for that performance.

Maggie Gyllenhaal, gave such a tender performance as a journalist who Bad falls in love with, this film really shows the the life struggles and life relationships that one can go through. Barry Markowitz's cinematography is simply breathtaking.

I'm not a fan of country music, but the song The Weary Kind is such a beautiful song with a beautiful melody. Jeff Bridges gave such an emotional powerhouse of a performance that makes you remember that he is one of the greatest actors of our time.
