Review of Crazy Heart (2009) by Liam C — 13 Apr 2014

The Dude with a guitar and they make magic together. Jeff Bridges is one of the best actors in the business and his performance definitely elevates the proceedings to a whole new level as I feel it would not have had the same impact if some subpar actor did the job.

The story isn't particularly new but I really liked it here and everything else about it, the acting is amazing, the directing is great and the cinematography was excellent. There are many actors of Bridges' calibre that get an Oscar for a film that usually isn't considered the actors greatest work and its thought of as a 'Legacy Oscar' Scent of a Woman and The Fugitive come to mind but those two actors did deserve them but for this movie? Jeff Bridges' performance really was excellent and he really transformed himself into the character and it helps he sang his own music too, which by the way, the soundtrack is out of this world and it is now one of my favorites much like the movie.

Everything is this movie is done right, the romance, the music, the acting, the heartbreak. Everything.
