Review of Crazy Eights (2006) by Angela C — 28 May 2008
Now, enough of tat, let's get into the movie a little more.
I promise...NO SPOILIERS!!!! (for those who really want to see it).
I will be honest to it......IT'S REALLY BAD...
On scary level was a THREE out of TEN for me. (maybe it was due to the lack of darkness when we were watching the film, but still....).
The way the characters died was pretty horrible BUT they r not clear enough as in they didn't really fully show it.
The deaths and storyline become way too predictable. there r not enough of twists in the movie.
The ending was too abrupt too tat I can seriously the question marks popping out of me and melanie's head....
We looked at each other with a big "WHAT THE FUCK?!" expression.
There was not enough GRAPHICS, SCARINESS, and GORINESS.
It was a plain OK...tat is it for me. really...it can do better ...seriously.
And one thing was, the plot line was really really unclear.
Til the end, we still don't understand y they were there and y r they dying....
It explain so little. I understand sometimes horrors don't need the storyline, BUT when u got a film tat is NOT SCARY ENOUGH....
U would need the storyline to balance out and I really don't see it working there.
It also lacked in the so called "scary elements" (okay..i made tat up).
Wat r they????? they are:
SHADOW, DARKNESS, MIRROR, BATHROOM (TUB, SINK, TOILET), TELEPHONE, GLORY, BLOOD, SCREAMS.....
(think about it...wat would u be looking for in the horror movies?).
*nod*.
Honestly, I was actually have pretty high expectation to the film, since it was one of the eight horrors from the horror fest.
Not to mention it was rated R...
But for wat????? it was for LANGUAGE.....gah........
I finally learned the difference in rate of the Asian Horror and American ones.
The Asian Horror tat was rated R was for the CONTENT and GRAPHIC (the best ever).
The American Horror??? was almost all for the LANGUAGE, which leave the CONTENT n GRAPHIC in wat..PG-13 level.
Seriously, when we watching the horror films, the audience r looking for the EXCITEMENTS,GLORY, and the SCARY LEVEL.
If we can't even the way the characters die would be quite disappointed.
There was something melanie said really made sense.
She said "American is better when it comes to the horror films tat is related to psycho killers, like u know..the "mental killers" and asian is better when it comes to the ghosts and super naturals".
And SERIOUSLY...american remaking the asian horrors is a "BIG NONO" (mrs. cooper would be so happy tat the students like to use this phrase).
I shall be lookin forward to the day tat one day american can successfully make a great horror films.
I am not saying tat all of the american horrors r bad. there r some VERY VERY GOOD ones.
It's just I hope if they r willing to SHOW MORE and CUT LESS (less RESTRICTIONS) then the american horror films shall have brighter future.
