So my friend has this metaphor of brussell sprouts: they could be prepared any which way and you will still not enjoy them. That is to say, the material of some films you will never enjoy no matter how well-written or executed they are.

For me these include *most* High School or teen romances, seeing as they usually contain inch-deep characters and try to make statements well beyond what the content allows (cf. Thirteen, Havoc, et al).

So I started watching this movie with an obvious predisposition against it (I figure I can take a break from watching classics one in awhile to see a crap fest), and I was not disappointed. Cliche piled upon cliche.

She is a wild rich white suburbanite, obviously unsatisfied with her life as all wild rich white suburbanites are; and he is a respectful, hard-working, straight-edge, well-spoken and articulate hispanic boy from a rougher part of town.

They have a shallow romance and little insight is given as to the reasons for their feelings. Then there is some bit about the rich white girl's senator dad who was never there for her. The characters supposedly develop through dialogue about their lives after empty sexual encounters.

Look how long I am spending on this review. Don't see Crazy / Beautiful.
