Review of Crazy/Beautiful (2001) by Mariam K — 09 Nov 2009
Love ~N~ Hate.
?Crazy/Beautiful? a movie of teenaged lovers and friends. Actors Kirsten Dunst as Nicole Oakley and Jay Hernandez as Carlos Nuñez as young teenagers fall for each other in a tragic love and lust story. Bruce Davison as Tom Oakley (Nichole?s Father) was a man that had to struggle with his daughter. He re-married and his new wife tries to take over control of him and his daughter Nichole.
To give you a brief summary of the movie ?Crazy/Beautiful? it?s about love and hate. Teens Carlos and Nichole meet each others and begin liking one another. They start dating and fall in love. Carlos mother doesn?t like Nichole. Nichole?s life is like she has no parents what so ever. Both teens have family problems. They are tried to be forced apart. Well the rest I can?t tell you. You have to see it yourself!
In the movie I really liked how the people were acting. It was like you could feel what went on in the scene. When one cried, you cried. It was so wonderful that you start to feel a certain way about things in your life or in life period. For example one day Nichole ran away from home and went to her best friend?s house to stay. She got drunk and the police took caught her and Carlos driven drunk. Even though Nichole?s father was around they didn?t have a good father daughter relationship. So Nichole began crying and she did it so well that you could feel her pain and understand what she?s been through. Just to make sure you got it, here?s another example. There was a scene when Carlos brother (Rolando Molina) and he were arguing. As his brothers words came out of his mouth you could see it in his face that he meant it and more. If I were to rate the acting alone I?ll give it a two thumbs-up.
The movie was lovely but there were certain things I didn?t care for, like some of the directions. Most of the details and descriptions? were well shown and explained. Even though I understood everything that happened in the movie scenes there still was something missing for me. But I still believe that some scenes should be more stretched out. I?m not saying that you can?t comprehend what goes on in the movie. I?m just saying if they (the directors) would have explained more in the movie then it in my opinion would be better.
To sum up, ?Crazy/Beautiful? it?s a movie that all teens can relate to. Most teens can look at their lives and connect to the movie. I recommend this movie to teens in struggles and also parents who would like to get to know more about their child and how they feel most of the time.
