Review of Crazy (2000) by Giffy G — 30 May 2008
First of all, if the plot was only going to deal with two of the brothers, why have five? This movie felt like a string of plot devices strung together around a mostly boring plotline. I've seen the "coming to terms with being gay" movie dozens of times, I've seen the "coming to terms with being gay in the 70s and 80s" several times.
I've even seen six or seven "coming to terms with being gay in the 70s and 80s in a non-US country" movie. This movie added very little to that genre, and revelled in its cliches. One of the few cool things this movie did was the condensation of imagery surrounding the term "crazy".
There were enough meanings for that one word, that I didn't need the three ancillary brothers to make the acronym. It was a rather mediocre movie all around.
