It's just amazing to me how a movie like this can be so boring. The refusal of mainstream horror movies these days to blend horror and comedy is baffling to me. It's like audiences only get horror if it's "scary" or making fun of horror cliches because that's "smart" to laugh at.
There's no in-between. Everything is either a big broad obvious comedy or so self-serious it has no room to breathe -- this is the latter.
