Review of Craigslist Joe (2012) by Roxanne R — 03 Mar 2013
My chiropractor recommended this documentary to me and I am so grateful he did. It reminded me that Craigslist can be used to connect people together. Joseph Garner, a typical 30 year old guy living in Los Angeles feels that in larger cities across America there is a lack of connection or human touch.
People live in their own bubble and fail to look around and listen to others. So Garner decides to do a daring thing: leaving behind the comforts of home, credit cards and his car, he decides to travel across the USA taking only a laptop, a new cell phone (no friends listed on it), toothbrush, the clothes he is wearing and a camera man to film his journey (he met the cameraman on Craigslist).
For the entire month of December everything in his life will come from Craigslist. You read correctly- he has to rely on the goodness of Craigslist folks to find a room to spend the night, food, rides, etc.
Can he do it? You have to watch this excellent documentary that restored my faith in humanity and the ability to make friends in big cities like Los Angeles...Available on Netflix instant streaming and what an eye opener.
Gave me several ideas as well..Thank you Joseph Garner, good tale! RECOMMENDED BIG TIME!!
