Review of Cradle Will Rock (1999) by Glen W — 21 Jul 2007
This film had the opportunity to be great but suffered from too much production and a heavy hand at the screen play. Telling of the events themselves would have been story enought -- the production of "The Cradle Will Rock" and of Diego Rivera's mural commissioned by the Rockerfellers.
Unfortunately, the screenplan has a heavy moralistic overtone that becomes a distraction. In the end, the characters become excessively shallow as they are forced into simple roles who are either good or bad people.
I had hoped that the caracters would have more depth given the talents of the actors playing them.
